Authenticity: Be Yourself, No Permission Needed!
Today, I see people at work who are working very hard at being someone they are not.
This is the work environment many of us find ourselves in - we tout authenticity, but show up as mere shadows of who we are; we "swallow" words we wish we had the courage to say; we second-guess one another and ourselves.
But it doesn't have to be this way.
Imagine instead being surrounded by colleagues who show up every day as the best versions of themselves! Imagine instead that work is where people can be Vulnerable without being fragile, and show true Courage instead of mere posturing!
What creativity, innovation and impact can such a team achieve? How wonderful would it be to work with colleagues who inspire you to be your best during the 8-12 hours you spend at work?
Lovely? I think so!
But why not?
This talk makes the case that only when we show-up as who we truly are can true connections and regenerative impact be created. And in this elemental connection of human-beings, is the fount of creativity and innovation.
Mastered or Master: Restoring the power of Emotions
Imagine, living just one day of your life unable to feel or recognise any emotion.
That would be one day when you are unable to make any decision, no matter how small.
How is this possible?
Because all decisions have an emotional basis!
Business leaders today are way over-using only 1 of the 3 “brains” at our disposal. We essentially have 3 major nerve control centers - Brain with ~ 100 billion neurons, Guts with ~ 500 million neurons, and Heart with ~ 40 thousand neurons
We would all make noticeably "better" decisions if we incorporate data points from our brain, heart and gut.
Better defined in terms of more accurately reflective of reality; more aligned to personal and collective purpose; and more deeply attuned to systemic environmental factors.
This talk mines the depth of the human mind, guts and heart, to reveal what had been known since antuiqity and now re-discovered by the new sciences.
Secret To A Happy Life? Eat More C.A.K.E.S.
During the 1990 Mind & Life Conference, the Dalai Lama was asked "What do you think about self-hatred?”
The room went quiet. The Dalai Lama turned to his translator and asked pointedly in Tibetan again and again for an explanation.
Finally, the Dalai Lama tilted his head, his eyes narrowed in confusion. “Self-hatred?” he repeated in English. “What is that?”
More often than not, we are the very people who rob ourselves of happiness with learned behaviours of self-loathing, self-hatred, self-criticism.
We are therefore the only ones who can stop ourselves from persisting with these self-defeating habits.
And in order to ensure that the path back to joy, peace and happiness is not an equally arduous one, I've concocted a C.A.K.E.S. recipe! The guilt-free kind that you can eat tons of without getting fat!
This talk shares the simple ingredients that everyone can use to make their own C.A.K.E.S, and eat their way to a more jouyous and happy life!
